Get ready for the holidays
November 10, 2011 No CommentsThe last two months of the year are usually very good times for business. Halloween and Thanksgiving set the stage for the traditional gift-giving that takes place from Christmas to New Year’s Day. It’s not only gifts that are bought by millions of consumers, but preparations for parties means they also spend freely on food, drinks and decor to make sure that everyone has a splendid time.
Online stores can take advantage of the Yuletide season by sprucing up their look and offering special promos.
It’s also a good idea to get in touch with the store’s best clients, and either give them the first shot at the holiday specials, or better yet, create an even better deal for them. It’s the online store owners’ way of saying thank you for all the business that the regular customers have given them for the past year.
By giving extra special deals, the profit margin per item will be reduced, but the additional business can make up for the shortfall. Most department stores and malls know that December is the best month of the year, which is why they spend a lot more in terms of decor and promotions to entice shoppers to come in and buy.
Some will refrain from putting up a Christmas theme in order not to offend the sensibilities of non-Christians. But the fact of the matter is that the Yuletide season is now less a religious occasion than it is a time for merry-making. (Note: The coming of the Yuletide season coincides with the Muslims’ celebration of Eid and the Jews of Hannukah.) This is neither good nor bad. It’s just the way it is. To ignore this fact is to deny one’s self a chance to make some extra income.
If the online store owner still insists on avoiding a Christmas theme, then a New Year’s theme can be just as good.
